WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIFFERENT FLOORBALL BLADES?
The main differences between floorball blades are:
· Cavity – affects how much spin and lift you can generate in your shots.
· Blade stiffness – softer blades provide better control, while harder blades can produce more powerful shots. The type of plastic that the blade is made of also affects the stiffness, choose between PE, PP and PP-H.
· Blade shape – some blades are designed for passing, while others are developed for shooting.
The best blade for you depends on your playing style. Try different models before deciding which one suits you best.
WHICH BLADE FITS MY FLOORBALL STICK?
To determine which floorball blade fits your shaft, you need to check the brand and model. Not all blades fit all sticks, as shafts and blades are usually designed specifically for each brand.
For example:
If you have a ZONE shaft, you need to use a ZONE blade.
If you have a stick from another brand, you need to use a blade from that same brand.
It is also important to choose the correct side—Left or Right—depending on your grip.
WHICH BLADE IS SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS?
AIR/ONE is easy to handle and is an excellent choice for beginners who want good ball control.
HOW DO I CHANGE THE BLADE ON A FLOORBALL STICK?
To change the blade on a floorball stick, start by heating the blade fitting at the bottom of the shaft. The old blade is often held in place by heat, friction or adhesive and must be loosened carefully.
Follow these steps:
1. Heat the blade fitting with a heat gun or hair dryer for approximately 1–2 minutes, until the plastic begins to soften.
2. Carefully pull off the old blade. Use gloves or a cloth to avoid burning yourself.
3. Attach the new blade immediately while the shaft is still warm.
4. Adjust the angle of the blade for the correct side, either left or right.
5. Secure the blade with screws if there are screw holes.
6. Allow the blade to cool before using the stick. You can use cold water to help the blade cool and set more quickly.
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT BLADE FROM THE ORIGINAL ONE ON MY ZONE STICK?
Yes. As long as the shaft is from ZONE and is compatible, you can attach any ZONE blade you prefer.
However, you must not mix blades and shafts from different brands, such as using a ZONE shaft with a UNIHOC blade.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY BLADE?
It is time to replace the blade if it has become soft, worn down or lost its original shape.
Active players may replace their blade several times during a season, while recreational players may be able to use the same blade for one or two seasons.
CAN I CHANGE FROM A LEFT BLADE TO A RIGHT BLADE?
Yes, you can change from a left blade to a right blade on your floorball stick, or vice versa. Changing sides means replacing the blade with one that is shaped for the opposite side.
Keep in mind:
· A left blade is used by players who hold their left hand at the bottom of the shaft.
· A right blade is used by players who hold their right hand at the bottom of the shaft.
If you change sides, expect an adjustment period before the new grip begins to feel natural.
CAN ANY FLOORBALL BLADE BE HOOKED?
Most floorball blades are made from materials that can be shaped, such as PE, PP and PP-H. However, some models are more difficult to reshape than others.
Check the manufacturer’s recommendations to confirm whether your specific blade can be heat-shaped.
HOW DOES THE HOOK AFFECT MY SHOT?
A bigger hook can provide more lift and power in drag shots and slap shots, while a smaller hook often provides better ball control and greater precision when passing.
The key is to find the right balance for your playing style.
